USAG Compulsory App
USA Gymnastics has released apps for both iPads and Android tablets with the compulsory book, routine drawings and the routine videos. The app sells for $29.99 and is available on iTunes (for iPads) and at the Google Play (for Android tablets) and the Amazon Kindle stores (for Kindle Fires).
A New Compulsory Visual Training Tool for Gymnasts
It is advertised by USA Gymnastics as an app for coaches and judges, but we are recommending it for compulsory gymnasts, and is especially cost effective for beginning Level 3 and Level 4 competitors because they will get two or three years use out of the app. Even for Level 5 gymnasts, the ability to watch the videos, any time and anywhere is a visual training advantage. We advise Compulsory gymnasts to regularly and often view the videos and make use of the interactive text and drawings features. Visual training is a heretofore much neglected part of gymnastics learning and this app can be used to help change that.
Handy and Portable App for Both Gymnasts and Coaches
For compulsory gymnasts learning the routines, the compulsory drawings are often very useful and having the video, deductions and text together is a useful learning combination for both gymnasts and coaches. Knowledge is power and in this case it is the power to know how to score higher.
The app is sold by Kent Koven. The minimum operating system is Android 2.2 for Android tablets. For iPads, the app Requires iOS 6.0 or later and 233 megs of space.
As with any new app, a few minor glitches have been reported, but the benefits of the new app seem to far outweigh any minor problems.
