SPITFIRE – Gymnastics Movie Starring Kristie Phillips

Spitfire is not a great film by any means, but it is a fun movie to watch if you have some time to waste, watching a mindless R-rated spy/action movie. Kristie Phillips stars as a flexible and athletic champion gymnast and martial artist, who becomes a double 007 type spy by accident. Former gymnast Kristie Phillips “kicks butt” in this 1995 campy “action” film. She flips, twists and fights through a number of countries, where she runs into other secret-service type characters in their own right, who for some reason are half-brothers and half-sisters, that she never knew she had.

Gymnastics Fans Will want to Watch It Just for Kristie Philips

Kristie Phillips stars as Charlie Case – gymnast, secret agent and martial artist. For those of us interested in gymnastics, the movie stars Kristie Philips, a 1988 Olympic Gymastics Team member and former US National Champion gymnast and has some good gymnastics scenes, which for us, makes it worth watching. Kristie is by far the best selling point of the film.

Plot?

The opening scene has Charlie Case’s uneven bar routine being sabotaged by an eastern-bloc competitor. The movie has a large number of comedic chase scenes, that makes it entertaining to watch. Reporter Rex Beechum follows Charlie in an attempt to get a story about the sleazy competition practices, like adding seizure-inducing drugs into the chalk bin. When her James bond super-spy dad is captured, Charlie and Rex take over his attempts to save Ukrainian nuclear missile launch codes from falling into the wrong hands. Meanwhile, a Soviet spy is trying to get the nuclear launch codes back and is willing to kill anyone to get them.

NOTE: This is a movie for adults, not young gymnasts as it is R-rated and has violence, profanity, adult situations and nudity.
