Sign the Petition to get the GB Rhythmic Group to London 2012 Olympics
The Great Britain rhythmic gymnastics team has launched a formal appeal and a petition about the decision of the British Gymnastics federation to prevent them from participating in the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in London. The Great Britain rhythmic gymnastics team have formally appealed against the decision by British Gymnastics to exclude them from the London 2012 Olympic Games.
According to the FIG, the International Gymnastic Federation, Great Britain has the right for the rhythmic team to compete because they are the host nation for the Olympics and allowing the host’s nation to showcase their own athletes and teams is both allowed and encouraged.
But the British Gymnastics federation set their own benchmark they said the team had to hit to be allowed to perform. Either of a few early errors in their hoop routine or a single knot in the ribbon routine was enough extra of a deduction to cause them to miss fall short of the 45.223 benchmark by only .273 of a point.
The BB men’s artistic gymnastics team of Daniel Keatings, Ruslan Panteleymonov, Louis Smith, Kristian Thomas, Daniel Purvis and Max Whitlock qualified for their first full Olympic team berth for Great Britain at the Olympic test event. The GB women’s artistic team already qualified at the 2011 Tokyo Gymnastics World Championships in October. and the British champion.
Britain’s Kat Driscoll qualified in trampoline for the Olympics at their Olympic test event. Francesca Jones, who ranked the highest in last year’s Montpellier Rhythmic World championships, may still be approved to compete as an individual in the Olympics if her score is ratified.

These girls have trained so hard and sacrificed so much to get this far. They are totally dedicated and professional and their routine is exceptional.
What has happened to the spirit of the Olympics and what is this teaching the young athletes of today.

I fail to comprehend how their own federation can prevent them from entering.
Who else was going to compete?
I seem to remember that the Chinese filled just about every slot available to them in Bejing.
It’s about time these so called federations got out of their ivory towers and entered the real world.
