Marriage Proposal Follows State Gymnastics Championship Awards
Chelsie Veilleux, the coach of Pinkerton Academy’s gymnastics team was asked by her boyfriend, Jason Burland, to marry him at the awards ceremony of the February 2012 New Hampshire’s Gymnastics State Championships at Salem High School. As her team members and fans listened, Veilleux’s boyfriend, took the microphone and told the packed gymnasium he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Incidentally, she said, “Yes.”
Some of her team girls, other coaches at the gym and team parents knew this was going to happen, but Veilleux was concentrating on coaching her team to a second consecutive State Championship win and was completely surprised.
For a gymnastics coach, whose entire world occurs virtually in the gym, this was a fitting marriage proposal and a fitting place to do it. Congratulations and good wishes from the whole gymnastics community to the happy couple.
