The 4th European Championships in artistic gymnastics for men and women is being held in Berlin, Germany from April 6 to April 10, 2011. The European Gymnastics Championships in Berlin will take place in the Max-Schmeling Hall, which only offers a seating capacity of 7000. All the warm-up and training facilities are located in the Max-Schmeling sports complex. Spieth will be providing all of the gymnastics equipment for the competition. Finals for the 2011 European Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships are already sold out. There are still seats left for the all-around finals on Friday and the qualifications on Wednesday and Thursday.
Germany sought to host this event, for among other reasons, 2011 is the 200th anniversary of German gymnastics (1811-2011 ).
The European Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships are an artistic gymnastics championships for male and female gymnasts from European countries organised by the European Union of Gymnastics.
Starting in 2005, with the Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, there were major changes to the European Gymnastics Championships format. They started having them every year including the Olympic year, instead of every other year. Because of that, they started over numbering the Individual and All-Around event championships from I (One). But they continued the count of the Championships from 1957 for those championships that continue to have All-Around, individual event and Team Championships, and now only every other Championships has team competitions. There’s no team competition in 2011.
The European Championships in artistic gymnastics in Berlin 2011 are individual championships. That means men’s and women’s all-around finals as well as apparatus finals will take place, however no team competition is included in the meet.
Competition I Qualifications
Every federation can start with
- Up to 6 male gymnasts (up to 4 male gymnasts can start on each apparatus)

The all-around finals will be held according to the results of the Competition I qualification with the best

Hi. I would be very grateful if you could tell me if this comp will be shown on tv??
European Gymnastics
I have to say that this is a good chance to remind people to be as specific as they can when asking questions. Since you did not say where you are from, I can only deduce from your email address that you are likely from Ireland, but since I do not know where you live and what your TV options are, I can only give a very general response.
BBC TWO is presenting a highlights program of the 2011 European Gymnastics Championships, hosted by Matt Baker, on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
You will really need to check your own local TV schedule for the times in your area.
Mio TV (Singtel) has coverage of the 2011 European Gymnastics Championships listed for its channel 117 (ESPN HD) starting with the Men’s Team on April 3, 2011 at midnight and the Men’s Individual on April 4, 2011 again at midnight. Check their schedule for the dates and times of the the women’s. They apparently are televising two and three hour sessions of the gymnastics each day of the competition. As with all TV scheduling, you will want to check carefully for the times and availability in your own area because, for example, ESPN is not covering the event in the United States at all, nor is any other network or cable TV company.
British Eurosport have consecutive coverage on:
Saturday 9th:
9:30 a.m. Men’s All Around Final
10:30 a.m. Women’s All Around Final
1:00 p.m. Apparatus Finals
Sunday 10th:
4:15 p.m Apparatus Finals
11:10 Apparatus Finals
This is the TV coverage of the European Gymnastics Championships in your general area of the World as far as I can tell from the information to which I have access. Hope that helps.
Hi I’m just curious but do you happen to know how Charlotte McKenna did in this competition? I’m from Ireland and am very interested in gymnastics.
Charlotte McKenna was 24th AA in the Qualifications Round. She did not qualify to Finals on any event or in the AA.
Her Scores:
MCKENNA Charlotte IRL
Vault = 12.700
Bars = 10.050
Beam = 11.200
FX =10.600
AA 44.550 24th
There is a video of her doing some events and the Irish men as well on YouTube at:

The gymnastics Examiner.com (http://www.examiner.com/gymnastics-in-national/quick-hits-women-s-qualification-at-the-2011-european-championships) had these comments about her routines:
Charlotte McKenna, vault: Yurchenko layout, step back. 12.7.
Charlotte McKenna, beam: Falls on bhs, layout series. Back leg bent on both elements. Switch, back tuck, good. Side aerial, solid. Side somie. Roundoff, double full with a step.
