The Quest For Gold TV Documentary
The filmmaker, Torey Champagne, spent 9 months since October 2011, with US Olympic gymnastics hopeful Aly Raisman and her family, filming her once or twice a week for the documentary. The documentary was cut from a total of 120 hours of filming where the filmmakers were given “unprecedented access” to Raisman’s daily life of balancing her life as a high school senior, competing for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team and the life of a professional gymnast. The documentary chronicles the time period from Raisman’s Tokyo 2011 Gymnastics World Championships Gold medal performance through the 2012 U.S.A. Olympic Trials of June 2012.
Interview with Filmmaker Torey Champagne
Quotes from Filmmaker Torey Champagne
Champagne won a New England Emmy in 2012 for producing, directing and editing the CSNNE series, “Villains: The Bad Guys of Boston Sports” so he is familiar with professional sports in the New England area.
“I’ve been in the Boston media for a while, and I’ve had the experience of being around the Patriots and the Celtics and that level of pro athlete. I’ve honestly never been more astonished or more amazed by an athlete than I have by spending the time with Aly. Her determination is unparalleled to anything I’ve ever seen.’’
“The documentary is an inspirational and emotional look at what an American Olympic hopeful endures to represent her country on the world stage. Viewers will see much more than a typical ‘day-in-the-life’ story, as they will get an intimate and exclusive look at both her gymnastics training and personal challenges as she evolves into a national gymnastics superstar.”
