As with any evaluation of what goes on in one’s life, it is commonly understood that for success it is necessary to create and write down goals. Less commonly known is that for goal setting to be really reflect true inner desires, goals must be in line with values of the goal setter. A comparison of goals and values will quickly show which goals are not in harmony with values and need to be revised or dropped. Our technique is to list our team values first, then create our goals and finally to compare the two to make sure they are compatible. If they are not compatible, we revise our goals to come into line with our core team values. Our goals vary each year depending on the level and abilities of the gymnasts on the team, but our core values remain very stable. We have split our values into two types to make them easier to understand and comprehend. We have our overall team values and our team competition values. Overall team values have to do with what we value with life in general. These are the values that will have lasting value for your entire life. Team competition values have to do with those qualities we value in competition and training for competition. Some of the values overlap into both categories. Team Values
