John Geddert, the Head Coach of Team USA 2011 World Championship Team, is interviewed and has some valuable advice for both coaches and gymnasts about how to approach high level competitions. Part of the insight you will gain is just from his own personal demeanor.
This interview was done just after the US Team convincingly won the Team Gold Medal at the 2011 World Championships, led in part by his all-around gymnast Jordyn Wieber.
Geddart covers important gymnast competition attitudes like having “fun, no anxiety, no drama and no meltdowns.” He explains haow Jordyn is out there performing with the intention of doing the best she can do, and if she does that, being OK with however she comes out. He also talks about giving his gymnast a break after this major competition, an important factor in a successful training schedule.
